Fudoshin Martial Arts offers traditional Okinawan Shorin-Ryu Karate, Kobudo and Self-Defense:

  • Karate training takes place in a formal atmosphere with an emphasis on etiquette and self-control as well as physical ability. Training is generally divided into the practice of basic techniques, Kata practice and sparring. While sparring, students stop blows just short of contact so that power is always maintained with control.

  • Advanced training includes self defense and kata application (bunkai) involving a wide range of strikes, throws, joint manipulation, and takedowns.

  • Kobudo the art of ancient martial weaponry is offered to all students. The Shorin-ryu Kiyobukan association has it's own complete syllabus of weaponry training besides it's open-hand/feet techniques.

Fudoshin Martial Arts is a member of the International Kiyobukan Kyokai under the direction of  organization founder and chairman Hanshi (10th degree black belt) Seiei Nakaza of Okinawa, Japan. In North America the Kiyobukan is led by Kyoshi (8th degree black belt) Brian Hobson, of Hampton Virgina.
